I was painting in the central square of a small mountain town near Patzcuaro, Mexico. She sat down near by and was watching me work. Under the pretext of photographing the street scene in front of me, I was able to capture her image. She may have been from a nearby village, in town just for the day. It was difficult to say how old she really was. But her face is proud, yet reflects a hard life, perhaps raising a large family and working in the fields. I never knew her real name. The original oil painting on canvas may be available. Visit my website: http://www.peterworsley.com for details.
